Their love and care for cats is pulpable and so is their patience woth humans too. The new location is amazing amd still just down tje road in walking distance. My tabby Gambit loves going to visit Doctor Jacky and the team even when he's not feeling great. The aftercare of tje team is also great and they really do go out their way to give your kitty tje best care possible.

Kiara Ganesha, Amsterdam

I frequented Mercator KattenKliniek from 2013 until 2025 with my chronically ill cat, Cookie (the love of my life). Over 12 years, I managed his complex conditions (epilepsy, enteritis, hepatic lipidosis, urinary obstruction, cystitis, and heart disease) with round-the-clock medication. Managing his care was incredibly demanding. Throughout those years, veterinarian Natasja and vet assistant Rijmke provided immense, 5-star support, for which I was always deeply grateful, even showing my appreciation with holiday gifts for every staff member and always paying thousands of euros in vet and specialists bills on time. Unfortunately, the level of care and empathy completely changed this year after I adopted an older stray cat who quickly developed health issues. Natasja was no longer assigned to me; instead, I dealt with Inneke. When my new cat began showing signs of Feline Hyperesthesia Syndrome (FHS), the care felt incredibly dismissive. Instead of asking me to bring the cat into the clinic for a primary examination to rule out base pathologies—which is the standard first step—Inneke immediately referred me to a neurologist just to avoid dealing with my questions. I was explicitly told by Inneke, and later by a vet assistant, to stop calling them with questions about my cat's changing condition. The situation escalated when I went to pick up medications and asked the assistant, Jackline, about the correct dosage frequency since my cat's daily episodes were worsening. Jackline became highly irritated, claimed they had already told me the dose (which was only for single episodes, not daily occurrences), and grew offended by my serious tone. She openly refused to help me, discussed the situation with Natasja, and returned to tell me they were annoyed because I ask too many questions and they do not want to deal with a very worried owner. She concluded by telling me I was no longer welcome at the clinic and that I should find another vet. Furthermore, when I noted that the clinic should have examined my cat before pushing us to a stressful, expensive neurological appointment, Jackline told me that if I didn't have money, I shouldn't have an animal. This was deeply insulting to someone who has sacrificed everything financially and personally for their animals, always utilizing top specialists (like MCVD) and maintaining zero debt. My new vet has since confirmed that a primary physical exam should have absolutely happened first. It is deeply shameful that a veterinary clinic would ban a dedicated animal advocate simply for being thorough and asking questions about a pet's health. While Natasja and Rijmke's historical care for Cookie deserves 5 stars, the current dismissive, unprofessional, and hurtful treatment from the clinic vets and assistent Jackline deserves zero stars.
